Half sanction for the law that establishes a day to remember the heroes of the ARA San Juan

This took a long time, a job of many years," Luis Tagliapietra, father of one of the deceased crew members, said in dialogue with Télam, who expressed his wish that "the process be approved quickly in the Senate and not go to next year." The norm establishes November 15 as the "National Day in memory of the 44 heroes of the ARA San Juan Submarine."

The approval in the Chamber of Deputies of the project that establishes November 15 of each year as the "National Day in memory of the 44 heroes of the ARA San Juan Submarine" was celebrated by Luis Tagliapietra, father of one of the deceased crew members, who expressed his desire that "the process be approved quickly in the Senate and not go to next year." "It was unexpected news, the truth is I thought it was not going to come out, after so much struggle, because this took a long time, a job of many years," said Tagliapietra in statements to Télam. On Tuesday, after the approval of the half-sanction in Deputies of the project that modifies the Income Tax and promotes the creation of new universities, other initiatives were also approved such as establishing November 15 of each year as the National Day for the Memory of the 44 Heroes of the ARA San Juan Submarine. "Hopefully the Senate will now process the project quickly and we will not have to wait until next year. We hope that the Senate will take on the issue with the same commitment because it is something very positive regarding memory," Tagliapietra added. Alejandro's father, who was 27 years old at the time of the ship's disappearance - on November 15, 2017 - added in dialogue with this agency that "it is essential to remember them because although there was a resolution from a few years ago that spoke of the treatment of the theme in schools, sometimes it was fulfilled and other times it was not. "This will give another framework so that they can be remembered, and formally honored. We family members never ask for more than that: memory, truth and justice," he noted. The project maintains in its article 1: "Institute November 15 of each year as National Day in memory of the 44 heroes of the Ara San Juan Submarine." The second article specifies that during that day, "the National Executive Branch, through the enforcement authority it determines, will promote the carrying out of commemorative actions and activities." On November 15, 2017, the ARA San Juan disappeared from radar with 44 crew members on board, who lost their lives after the ship succumbed near Golfo San Jorge. The remains of the ship were not found until 368 days after the search began.
